The practice sessions are held at Kåren (hämeenkatu 22 map) on Wednesdays and at Snellman's school(koulukatu 8 map) the other days

• Mondays 20.00-21.00 beginners, 21.00-22.00 advanced
• Tuesdays 19.00-20.30 beginners, 20.30-22.00 advanced
• Wednesdays 18.00-19.30 beginners (with Vareta)
• Thursdays 20.00-22.00 advanced
• Sunday 14.30-16.00 everybody

The capoeira classes at Kåren started the 16th of January 2006. We are now having our 8th beginners' course and all together more than 50 active capoeiristas.

Apart from the normal classes we join and arrange all sorts of activities:

• Wednesdays, occationally sauna after the classes (21-23).
• Saturdays, ~15.00->, music practice at Cromadinho's place
• Fridays(every second), 17.30-19.00, roda with grupo Acai(map)

Real name: Edmilson Dos Santos Ferreira

Cromadinho started capoeira in his bome town Brasilia at an age of 9 and has been practicing ever since. He got his professor grade from Mestre Amendoim (de Senzala) in 2007 before coming to Finland. Cromadinho is additionally a brilliant musician, specialized in drumming. He started teaching at Kåren in May 2008.

Real name: Ronnie Snellman

Ronnie started capoeira in October 2003 in Valencia, Spain, with a group called Camboatá. 7 months later he moved back to Finland and continued to practice with Grupo Capossu. During the autumn 2005 he assisted the teachers for the beginner's group in Grupo Capossu and finally since the spring 2006 he keeps this university group going at the Åbo Akademi university.

Ronnie has visited workshops in Spain, Portugal, Holland, Sweden, Brazil and several Finnish cities.

Real name: Milver Colmenares

Milver started with grupo Raíses do Brasil in Caracas, Venezuela many years ago. Since he moved to Finland to study he has been practicing with Capossu and assisting Ronnie at Kåren.

Real name: Niklas Holmstedt

Niklas started his capoeira at Kåren in Januray 2006 and is now helping out with the beginners' classes. He is also a very active acrobat and helps out with acrobatics practices at Alfa. Dobrado was 2008-2009 doing an exchange in Japan.

In the Kåren group, as in Grupo Capossu, we practice Senzala style, which contain both Regional, or fast game standing up, and Angola, which is more traditional and often practiced a bit slower and close to the ground. In addition we also practice maculele, which is another afrobrazilian stick-dance.

In Turku there are two active angola groups: Angola Center Finland and grupo Acaí. When possible we visit the rodas and workshops of both groups in order to gain more skills about Capoeira in general.
